Meditrox receives positive toxicology opinion from BIBRA

October 2008: Meditrox, a division of Steritrox Ltd, the leading developer of a patented process for rapid room decontamination and disinfection, has received a positive toxicology opinion from BIBRA Information Services Ltd. BIBRA is a world renowned independent specialist toxicology consulting firm based in the UK.

An assessment by BIBRA examined measurements of residual gas levels, during and following the use of the Meditrox system in a test environment verified by external independent experts. At the end of the cleaning process, residual atmospheric levels were determined to be 0.075 mg/m3 of ozone and 0.017mg/m3 of hydrogen peroxide.

The BIBRA report concludes that when compared to safety levels set by international government agencies, that it is unlikely that process operators or cleaners exposed to the atmosphere remaining at the end of the Meditrox process, would be subject to any significant health risk.

The Meditrox process has been developed for use in hospital environments. The process is deployed through Meditrox-100, a user-friendly, automated system, intended for use in routine whole room decontamination in hospitals to combat healthcare-acquired infections (HCAIs) including MRSA, C difficile and other bacterial and viral infections.

Commenting on the BIBRA report, Peter Townley, Group Chief Executive of Steritrox said: “We are delighted by the positive opinion of BIBRA, this demonstrates that the Meditrox system will be safe when used in a clinical setting. The Company is now progressing on course to launch the Meditrox-100 system in mid 2009. ”
